Chinese leader Xi Jinping greeted by Carrie Lam and disciplined services in Hong Kong
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Hong Kong on June 30, 2022, for a two-day visit marking the 25th anniversary of the city’s July 1 return to Chinese rule. The visit marked his first trip outside mainland China since the Covid-19 pandemic began. It was also his second time presiding over the city’s anniversary events, after a 2017 trip.
Xi was greeted by Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam, members of the executive branch, the legislature and the judiciary, the disciplined services and some 160 people from various sectors at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
