Protest outside China’s consulate in New York on 25th anniversary of Hong Kong handover

Dozens of protesters gathered outside China’s consulate in New York City on July 1, 2022, to mark 25 years since Hong Kong was returned to Chinese rule. The group gathered at Times Square in the US city before marching to the consulate. Some demonstrators said they will fight for freedom on behalf of people who live in Hong Kong and are afraid to speak out because of the city’s national security law.
