More than 350 flights have been cancelled and dozens more delayed as Super Typhoon Saola approached Hong Kong on September 1, 2023. Stranded visitors were seen wandering at the airport, trying to rebook their travel arrangements. The city’s flagship airline Cathay Pacific Airways halted all but one flight from 2pm until 10am September 2. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Express and Hong Kong Airlines cancelled about 70 and 36 flights, respectively, on both days.
