A Hong Kong Cantopop band formed in 2012 has gained a new level of popularity after videos of their recent busking shows went viral on social media. One live performance by The Flame at an outdoor promenade in the city’s Kennedy Town area on Christmas Day 2024 drew as many as 1,000 people. Fans told the Post they have enjoyed attending the events as a temporary escape from feeling sad. Band members said the legacy of Covid-19 shutdowns has left many young people eager for more communal experiences, and they described having an impact on people’s lives through performance as a priceless treasure.
