China and 30+ countries establish international mediation organisation in Hong Kong
The International Organisation for Mediation aims to settle disputes between nations, a state and a national of another country, as well as private entities
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, along with representatives from more than 30 other countries, signed the establishing convention of the world’s first international mediation-based dispute resolution body, which will be headquartered in Hong Kong, on May 30, 2025. The International Organisation for Mediation aims to reach a legal standing on par with other international organisations such as the International Criminal Court or the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. Representatives from around the world and the United Nations attended the establishing ceremony.
