Veteran Hong Kong lawmaker Regina Ip is not seeking another term in coming Legislative Council election

In a press conference on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the chairwoman of the New People’s Party, Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, a veteran Hong Kong lawmaker and senior government adviser, announced she will not be running in Hong Kong’s coming Legco election. After serving 17 years as a lawmaker, 75-year-old Ip emphasised that the reason for stepping down is not her age. She stressed she is not retiring and said that she will continue her public service to serve the city, the country, and the future.
