The parent company of popular online retailer HKTVmall has come under fire from animal rights groups after it revealed a life science project that involved testing the viability of detached animal heads and limbs. Peta called for an immediate end to the project, which has gone on for four years and involved 38 experiments. Hong Kong Technology Venture Company denied media reports suggesting that pets were used. It also claimed the research could be applied to human transplants, potentially “extending human lifespan”.
