Finnish deaf rapper Signmark – the global star who proved his doubters wrong

The Finnish deaf rapper Signmark, whose piercing, uplifting songs transcend language barriers, will perform his ‘Impossible Is My Thing’ concert in November as part of Hong Kong’s World Cultures Festival: The Nordics.
The 41-year-old star, who was born deaf and whose real name is Marko Vuoriheimo, says he always had a dream to be an artist, but nobody believed in him.
“Everybody was saying, ‘You're a deaf man … you will not be able to do this’,” he says. “That felt really bad. So, I decided I was going to show everybody that I can do this’.”
Since then the acclaimed performer has released numerous albums at played more than 1,000 concerts in Europe, the United States and Asia.
