China sees rising popularity of figure skating in run up to Beijing Winter Olympics

Figure skating has become more popular among teenagers in China. The country has been promoting the winter sport since Beijing won the bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics. Nine-year-old Xu Yichen has been practising figure skating for four years after falling in love with the sport when she first visited a skating club in Beijing. She now practises three hours each day and dreams of competing someday in the Winter Olympics.
