Piecing together Shanghai’s wartime past, one bunker at a time

Hidden among the skyscrapers and busy streets of modern Shanghai are historic wartime  relics that few people notice, even though they often pass within inches of the disused  structures. Belgian Maxime Tondeur is determined to raise awareness about the megacity’s history, by documenting the bunkers, pillboxes and air-raid shelters hidden in plain sight.
