Italy erupts in celebrations after Euro 2020 football triumph over England

Italians were dancing, chanting and singing late into the night in the Piazza del Popolo fan zone in the capital Rome, after their national team won a nail-biting European Championship final against England on July 11, 2021. Celebrations including fireworks and music broke out across the country after Italy’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved two England penalty kicks in a 3-2 shoot-out win following a 1-1 draw after extra time at London's Wembley Stadium. It was Italy’s first European Championship triumph since 1968.
