Tokyo marks Olympics opening ceremony with fireworks and drone display

Fireworks marked the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics’ opening ceremony on July 23, 2021. Highlights from the event included a drone display. Athletes paraded through a near-empty stadium with fewer than 1,000 people in attendance because of the coronavirus pandemic.
