Fear looms over Ukraine’s capital Kyiv amid Russia’s ‘special military operation’

Residents of Ukraine’s capital were seen out on the streets, with many glued to their phones as news came through that Russia had begun attacking the country. Panic swept through Kyiv as large explosions were reportedly heard overnight. Some were seen holding suitcases, hoping to flee the capital. Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a “special military operation” in Ukraine and called on the Ukrainian military to surrender.
