Russian missiles hit Yavoriv military base in western Ukraine near Polish border

Justin CF Chan

Russia fired about 30 missiles at a large military base near the city of Lviv in western Ukraine in a deadly attack targeting the compound near the Polish border on March 13, 2022. Dozens of people were reportedly killed when several of the missiles made it through defence systems to strike the base just miles from Ukraine’s border with its Nato and EU-member neighbour. The attack came a day after the Kremlin threatened to attack Western weapons shipments to Ukraine. The Yavoriv military base had been used for training by Nato military experts before the war and its proximity to the border makes it a natural destination for Western munitions to be moved into Ukraine.
