3 European leaders travel to Kyiv war zone in bold show of support to Ukrainian leader Zelensky

Carol Mang

The prime ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia travelled to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on March 15, 2022. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa had planned out their train journey several days earlier but kept it secret for security reasons. The trio met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and reportedly discussed ways to support Ukraine and “strengthening sanctions against the Russian aggression”. Kyiv remains under the control of Ukrainian forces, but Russia’s military is gradually surrounding the city.
