Turkish scorpion farm ‘milks’ over 20,000 arachnids to produce valuable venom

A lab in Turkiye’s southeastern province of Sanliurfa has bred more than 20,000 scorpions that produce valuable venom. A single Androctonus Turkiyensis can generate around 2 milligrams of toxicant used in producing cosmetics, painkillers and antibiotics. A litre of venom is worth US$10 million, according to the farm owner.
