Kamala Harris confirmed as Democratic presidential nominee after ceremonial roll-call

The Democratic National Convention officially endorsed US Vice-President Kamala Harris as the party’s candidate for the 2024 presidential election on August 20, 2024. Harris made a surprise appearance in front of cheering supporters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, hours after her nomination. Harris was chosen after US President Joe Biden decided to withdraw his candidacy, following multiple calls from his party to step down.
