US President Joe Biden promises ‘peaceful and orderly’ transfer of power to Donald Trump

US President Joe Biden has urged supporters of his vice-president, Kamala Harris, not to give up after the Democrat was defeated at the polls by Republican Donald Trump. In a speech on November 7, 2024, Biden also promised a “peaceful and orderly transition” of power to former president Trump. Biden urged Americans to "bring down the temperature" after the contentious campaign fight, saying the outcome has proven the integrity of the US electoral system.
