Developing nations blast US$300 billion Cop29 climate deal as not enough

The funding to confront climate change has been boosted from the previous US$100 billion deal, but still falls short of the trillions needed.

Nearly 200 countries have agreed to more than triple the amount of money available to help developing countries confront rapidly warming temperatures. Rich countries have pledged on November 24, 2024, to provide at least US$300 billion annually by 2035. But the agreed funding still falls short of the trillions that poor and vulnerable nations say they need to climate-proof their economies.
