Trump concerned South Korean ICE arrests could ‘frighten’ investors
US president said foreign workers sent to the US are ‘welcome’ days after hundreds of South Koreans were arrested at a work site in the state of Georgia.
US President Donald Trump said foreign workers sent to the United States are welcome, adding that he does not want to “frighten off” investors. Trump posted his remarks on his Truth Social social media platform on September 14, 2025, 10 days after hundreds of South Koreans were arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers at a Hyundai factory in the US state of Georgia. The group was later released and returned home on a chartered flight. ICE officials alleged the South Korean workers had overstayed their visas or held permits that did not allow them to perform manual labour. Meanwhile, South Korean authorities said the two countries have agreed to establish a working group to create a new visa category.
