Temperatures in Hong Kong expected to drop to 11 degrees Celsius on Thursday

Temperatures in Hong Kong are expected to drop to as low as 11 degrees Celsius (52 Fahrenheit) again on Thursday as an intense winter monsoon approaches the south of China, according to the weather forecaster.

The Hong Kong Observatory said on Monday that the winter monsoon was expected to start gradually affecting southern China the next day, strengthening winds in Hong Kong and lowering temperatures “appreciably” at night.

The mercury will start falling on Tuesday to 16 degrees, then plunge further to as low as 11 degrees on Thursday, according to the latest nine-day forecast.

The detailed forecast showed temperatures might dip to as low as 5 degrees in Pak Tam Chung and 6 degrees in Ta Kwu Ling on Wednesday morning.

It will be mainly cloudy from midweek onwards, with occasional dry and sunny intervals during the day.
