South Korea seeks extradition of Philippine diplomat accused of sexual abuse
- Noe Wong, a former ambassador to South Korea, is alleged to have molested a woman in December last year
- South Korean police in May issued an Interpol Red Notice to seek Wong’s location with the aim of extraditing him to the country

Wong faces accusations that he molested a woman in her early 30s by allegedly hugging her from behind without her consent in December last year, police said on Monday.
A senior detective at the Seoul police agency told This Week in Asia that police had issued an Interpol Red Notice – which goes out to 190 Interpol member countries to say a person is wanted based on an arrest warrant – in May.
This was with a view to having him extradited from the Philippines to South Korea so charges could be filed against him, the detective said. He added that it was up to Manila to extradite him.
The Philippine embassy in Seoul said it received a complaint about sexual harassment in February when the ambassador was in Manila on official business. It did not identify the ambassador by name.
