Thai actress Preechaya ‘Ice’ Pongthananikorn questioned for buying cyanide linked to serial killer
- She bought a bottle of cyanide online to ward off lizards and snakes to prevent them from attacking her pet dogs
- The poison came from the same batch used by a serial killer accused of taking the lives of more than a dozen people, but police found no link to the murders

Thai police have cleared actress Preechaya “Ice” Pongthananikorn of any criminal wrongdoing for buying the same batch of cyanide used by a serial killer accused of poisoning more than a dozen people.
Deputy national police chief Surachate Hakparn said an unnamed celebrity was among a list of 100 buyers targeted by officers investigating the alleged murders involving Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn.
The police disclosure prompted Preechaya to admit that she had bought a bottle of cyanide online to ward off monitor lizards and snakes to prevent them from attacking her pet dogs.
Preechaya also said she did not open the bottle and surrendered it to police, who decided not to press charges against the star for possessing the regulated toxic substance.
Surachate said he found no evidence the actress broke any laws because the amount she had was so small, but added a permit was required to import or possess cyanide, according to reports by The Nation news website on Monday.
