Malaysia’s defence ministry has ordered an internal investigation after viral social media posts alleged that unauthorised civilians had entered military camps for parties and other “immoral activities”, sparking a wave of online mockery as citizens use images of nuggets and sausages to express their outrage over the incident.

On Monday, the ministry said it had directed the armed forces to conduct an immediate probe to verify the allegations circulating online.

“The allegations do not reflect the culture, values and practices of the military, which are founded on discipline, professionalism and strict adherence to security procedures,” it said in a statement.

“If the allegations are proven to be true, firm action will be taken without compromise against any party, in accordance with existing regulations, procedures and laws.”

Videos that circulated on social media on Sunday purported to show what the poster described as an “entertainment culture” involving military personnel, according to Free Malaysia Today. The clips have since been deleted.

One video, which the poster claimed was filmed at Subang Air Base, appeared to show a man entering a venue with his arm around a woman dressed for a nightclub setting. Another clip showed women seated at a bar and interacting with men in plain clothes.
