Fifa invites South Korean YouTuber targeted by racist gesture to Mexico World Cup match
Fifa said Thursday’s South Korea-Mexico game would carry an anti-hate message after the incident sparked outrage online

The football governing body said the match, which falls on the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, will be used to deliver a “message of inclusion and respect”.
The UN established the observance in 2021 to tackle what it called the “exponential spread” of hate speech, xenophobia and discrimination around the world.
Fifa said in a statement cited by Korean media that Yoon Su-jin, whose creator handle is InoCat, had agreed to attend the match.
The game will be played in Guadalajara, the western Mexican city where Yoon filmed a local man pulling at the corners of his eyes – a gesture derogatory to people of Asian descent – during South Korea’s match against the Czech Republic on June 11.
After the clip was shared online, social media users identified the man as Ulises Fernando Bernal Miramontes, then president of the College of Topographic and Geodetic Engineers of the State of Jalisco (CITGEJ), and called on the professional association to take action.
