1 Dragon Ball Super

Topping our list is an anime created by Akira Toriyama. It continues the story of Son Goku, who must once again harness the power of the Super Saiyan to battle God-like beings from other universes. One such opponent is Beerus, the God of Destruction, who later becomes an ally. Glowing spiky hair absolutely mandatory.

2 MS Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans

The story is set in a human colony on Mars. Children who can fuse themselves to different machines after cruel experimentation, and are enslaved in the colony. By accident, the hero Mikazuki Augus discovers the legendary Gundam, Barbatos, and rises up with fellow slaves to fight for their freedom. This anime also delves into the issues of slavery, war, poverty and child soldiers.

3 My Hero Academia: Season 2

In a world, where everyone is born with a superpower (known as quirks) of their own, Izuku Midoriya is a middle school student who dreams of becoming a hero. To his dismay, he soon realises he was born without a quirk but is bestowed one by legendary hero All Might who senses his sincerity. Lacking in raw power, how will he fare against other heroes-to-be using his courage, wit and determination?

4 Steins; Gate 0

The story revolves around the eccentric, if not slightly mad, scientist Okabe Rintaro, who fails to prevent the death of his love interest Kurisu Makise, an event that would eventually lead to the third world war. Depressed, he meets a neuroscientist and her professor, who make an artificial intelligence from the original Kurisu’s memories in a bid to save the timeline.

“I want to be the King of Pirates!” Known for his daring actions, his signature straw hat and his weird Gomu Gomu (rubber) attacks, Luffy’s journey continues. As he gathers his crew of pirates, each with a unique talent, he will need everyone’s help to take on the Four Emperors and other dangers of the sea.

6 Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale

In 2026, the VR game Ordinal Scale is a big hit. Kirigaya Kazuto (Avatar name: Kirito), Yuuki Asuna (Avatar name: Asuna) meets songstress Yuna and 2nd ranked player Eji, and the group soon discovers that behind the glamorous coding of this popular game lurks a dark secret.

7 Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry

Fairytail is a guild composed of talented young wizards who go on quests and adventures. Protagonist Natsu Dragneel, a reckless young wizard wielding Fire Dragon-Slayer magic, must set off with his fellow guild members to retrieve Dragon Cry, an ancient artefact enshrined in a temple in Fiore Kingdom which has the power to destroy the world.

8 One Punch Man: Season 2

The bald, class C hero Saitama has strength without a match and his feats include putting a swift end to a 200-storey building and obliterating a meteor with a single punch. But will he be able to conquer his greatest fear: mustering the courage to talk to his love interest? Find out in Season 2!

9 Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King

This is a sequel to the story of Rin Okumura, the son of Satan. Raised by a kind pastor, Rin is determined to renounce his evil heritage and become an exorcist by attending school at the True Cross Academy with his twin brother Yukio, who may possess his own secret power.

10 Gintama 2017

Gintama remains one of the funniest anime ever with the protagonist’s (Gintoki Sakata) random, bizarre, and somewhat idiotic jokes. Set in the late Edo-period of Japan, when aliens have invaded and samurais have surrendered, Gintoki and his friends become freelancers who still carry the pride of true samurai.

11 Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

The focus of this sequel to the popular Naruto story arc shifts to his son, who is also training to be a ninja. His father the Hokage and the hero from the previous war, is extremely busy. With little fatherly love, Boruto eventually adopts a rebellious attitude but must mature quickly to battle a new threat.
