We get you, Leo. We'd probably look like we're about to cry too!

It finally happened. After all these years, American actor Leonardo DiCaprio won his first Oscar in the Best Actor category for his role in The Revenant at this year's 88th Academy Awards.

DiCaprio was first nominated in 1993 (before some of you were born ...) for his supporting role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. In 2005 and 2007 he was nominated in the Best Actor category for The Aviator and Blood Diamond respectively. And in 2014 he was nominated for The Wolf of Wall Street, which he acted in and produced, in the Best Actor and Best Picture categories.

At long last, 23 years after his first Oscar nod, DiCaprio is taking home the Oscar statue. The actor received a standing ovation from his peers and the internet exploded with memes celebrating his win. Here are some of our favourites.
