Taylor Swift has unveiled a new song from her upcoming album Lover ahead of its release next month.

She announced the new teaser track, The Archer, in an Instagram livestream this morning.

She also released a lyric video for the song.


The Archer will be the fifth track on Lover, a spot which has legendary status among Swift fans, as it is traditionally reserved for the most vulnerable, emotional song on each of Swift’s album.

Swift left fans a hint for The Archer earlier this month in the music video for her latest single You Need To Calm Down. The video included a scene in which an arrow is fired at a target with a number 5 written on it.


It was also announced this morning that Swift has been nominated for seven MTV Video Music Awards: five for You Need To Calm Down, and two for her previous single, Me.
