Unicef Make a Video contestant Ho Kit-leong compares dreams to light bulbs.

What are dreams? Are dreams something we can achieve by only investing time and energy?

In this video, I compare dreams to light bulbs. Dreams are so fragile yet shining brightly every day, just like light bulbs. A dream gives every dreamer a sense of hope and motivates them to move forward.

Dreams do not vanish for no reason. Putting in too much time or energy into pursuing your dream can result in failure. That should be the last thing everyone wants. If too much energy is invested, you may end up feeling tired before you achieve your dream. On the other hand, if only time but no energy is invested, you may drop out before reaching your goal. Just like a light bulb, you may fade away and never sparkle again.

However, a dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, hard work and out-of-the-box thinking.

And along the journey, we may get lost. We may wonder why did the efforts we put in did not result in what we expected. We may question if the sacrifices we made were not enough. But soon we may realise that the problem is with the dream we are pursuing. It takes courage to embark on a new path. We may be scared to make changes due to the uncertainty. That’s when many dreamers may put an end to their dream.

Time travel sounds good, but we shouldn't dwell in the past; focus on the present instead, says the creator of this Unicef HK Make a Video entry

Yet, how do we know what is ahead of us if we do not take a step forward? Although there may be failures, there are also chances to succeed. Therefore, my suggestion to every dreamer out there is that be bold and go ahead. Every great dream begins from zero. Always remember, you have the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.
