When a demon overlord from another dimension gets stranded in modern-day Japan, the last thing you might expect is that he gets a job a fast food restaurant! Hataraku Maou-sama! (The Devil is a Part-Timer) is a hilarious anime sitcom almost guaranteed to have you laughing non-stop.

A demon king called Satan has fled to modern Tokyo after failing to conquer the world. As allied forces from the north, south, east and west crush his army, Hero Emilia corners Satan in his throne room. With no other option, he flees with his lieutenant Alsiel through a dimensional portal.

Arriving on the other side, the two demons find that they are in the strange land of Tokyo. Alsiel finds he has lost all his magical powers while Satan has very little power left. Stranded in an unfamiliar world, the pair must find a way to make a living while trying to regain the magical powers needed to return to their world. Satan gets a job flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant, while Alsiel researches how magic works in our unmagical world.

Just as the demonic pair is starting to feel settled, Hero Emilia discovers them! How will the demons deal with her, powerless as they are?

The show is based on a series of light novels written by Satoshi Wagahara, with illustrations by Oniku. There are currently seven volumes, published by ASCII Media Works. The anime is produced by White Fox, which also made the two Jormungand anime series.
