This is a photo from the recent Westminister Kennel Club Dog Show in New York’s Madison Square Garden. It shows two Puli dogs at the show. The Puli is known for its long, corded coat.
Siba the standard poodle ran off with the 2020 Best in Show Championship title, beating hundreds of other dogs.
The win created quite a stir in the world of pedigree dog breeding because it was only the fifth time in the 144-year history of this famous US dog show that a standard poodle had won this much sought after title. This year, Danny, a Golden Retriever and a crowd favourite, was widely tipped to win but the judges thought otherwise.
Soon after her big win, it was announced that the poodle will now retire from competition. She will spend her time as a house pet and children’s playmate as well as hopefully becoming a mum in the near future.
