The Grade A table tennis finals is one sport that will be cancelled this weekend.

Secondary interschool sports matches scheduled for October 5 to October 7 have been cancelled in view of uncertainty and safety concerns, the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation announced on Friday.

Events affected include the Grade A table tennis finals in the Tsuen Wan and Islands area and Kwai Tsing area. Some group phase basketball matches of Girls’ Grade category of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island district have been called off as well.

It is the second time for the federation to cancel its scheduled competitions. On Tuesday, the preliminary matches of the All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Table Tennis Tournament were postponed due to the citywide chaos on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic.

Arrangements for rematches will be announced later.
