Are you ‘social masking’? How to stop hiding your personality and learn to be yourself

'Animal Crossing: New Horizon's' Raymond is a super popular villager.

Every week, we ask our Brain Game contestants one interesting, thought-provoking or just plain quirky question. Their answers will be published anonymously in Young Post. Then readers vote for their favourite answer. We will eliminate the contestant with the least votes every week until we have a winner.

Votes close at midnight on Sunday.

Contestant 1

Animal Crossing is a life-simulation video game where you socialise, explore, build your dream home and much more. It teaches basic real-life skills such as fishing, crafting, cooking and trading.
I would take my little brother because he would be thrilled to have animals interacting with him. He could build his own house and invite his animal friends. We could learn to live with nature as we explored the place while being creative along the way. After all, who wouldn’t want to take a break on a breathtaking island paradise?

Contestant 2

Trees, flowers and waterfalls make my island paradise perfect for nature-lovers. I would take zoologist Jane Goodall with me to chat with anthropomorphic animals (woof!) and go forest bathing. Imagine learning about animals first-hand by having them teach us how to fish and hunt for bugs!
Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be any chimpanzees on the island, but who knows? Maybe Ms Goodall will attract them from their hiding cove.

Contestant 3

I’d take Agnes  the pig (アグネス) from the game with me because she has an awesome personality and is very caring and protective. Agnes is a sisterly villager so she would give me a lot of fighting tips, and teach me ways to relax when I am stressed.
She’d also treat me with respect, offer to fight anyone giving me trouble, and provide medicine if I were stung by a bee.

Contestant 4

I’d take all the good people, those who are innocent, those who suffer, those who fight for Hong Kong, and all my animal friends to my island paradise.
Hong Kong is a stressful place right now, with all the violence and extreme anger. My island would be a peaceful place without arguments or unfair laws.

Contestant 5

The best person to accompany me to my island paradise would be … myself! Though I would love to take others, I think that some “#MeTime” would be great because I’d have spent hours designing my island to accommodate all my needs and tastes and therefore live a comfortable life.
P.S. Not that I have Animal Crossing but I look forward to creating my own island someday.

Contestant 6

I would take my best friend. First of all, I don’t play Animal Crossing so I wouldn’t know, well, how to do anything. My best friend has been playing this game since not long after New Horizons came out, so she would be a big help. She is also fitter than me, so she would be a better fisher (I heard you have to fish?). Finally, she would make a good companion.

Contestant 7

Imagine being friends with a kind and polite animal in your own island paradise. Picking someone who is reliable and lifts your spirits when you are in a bad mood is on top of my list.
Fauna, from the game, is the perfect addition to my island in Animal Crossing. She is an adorable deer who is creative in her own way and will spruce up my island.
