Hello, I’m Eunice and I’m 15! At first, I might come across as intimidating because I debate, and I help run the student union and the house committee. If you got to know me, though, you’d find out that I like to watch cartoons and do sudoku puzzles in my free time.
As if that’s not nerdy enough, I’m also interested in robotics. Aside from being a bit of a geek, I’d like to think I’m pretty funny, especially when it comes to using memes.
“Work until you no longer have to introduce yourself.”
- Harvey Specter (from the TV show Suits)
Personally, whenever I get upset or defeated, I always rely on my good old collection of memes instead of inspirational quotes, but this quote is different. It’s straight forward and not too optimistic, and it’s also from my favourite TV show, and that’s why it’s my favourite quote.
Hi! I’m Sakshi, and I’m 14. My hobbies are drooling over the food pics on my Instagram feed, watching movies, and procrastinating when I’m supposed to be doing work. In fact, I procrastinated for 20 minutes before writing this paragraph. I also enjoy eating, reading and sleeping. Especially sleeping. My dream in life is to be rich enough to set up autopay for all my bills, forget about them, and spend my remaining money on food.
“You miss 100 per cent of the shots you don’t take.”
– Canadian former professional ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky
I always remember this quote whenever I think about not doing something because I’m afraid I’ll fail. It reminds me that even the smallest victory will be better than not trying, and that even if I do badly, I won’t be worse off than if I hadn’t attempted it in the first place.
Hey, I am Claire! I am a 14-year-old nerdy girl who loves reading and I am from Pope Paul VI College.
When I was in primary school, I loved reading Harry Potter, and I still do. One time, my teacher said we had nothing else to learn so she let us watch Harry Potter. I was so excited because I had only read the books at that time. I started talking to basically everyone in class about the plot. It turned into a big conversation and we got really noisy in class. We all got in trouble. But because of this, however, I realised how much I love books and how excited they make me.
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if only one remembers to turn on the light.”
– Albus Dumbledore (from the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)
It helps me to stay positive even when things don’t turn out right and to work harder on those things and keep trying. I like this quote because it happened when the Dementors surrounded Hogwarts and all the students were depressed. Dumbledore said it so encouragingly and I use this to comfort myself when I am depressed, too.
Hi! I’m Charis, a 17-year-old student studying in Diocesan Girls’ School. In my spare time, besides playing the harmonica, I enjoy watching movies and Korean variety shows. Above all, I love eating, a lot. As a person who is interested in languages, I’m a fluent speaker of four – Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and Korean. Winter is my favourite season as I love wearing cosy jumpers and hoodies.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
– Philippians 4:13
As a Christian, I often find Bible verses the most encouraging, and this is one of my favourites. This quote comes to mind whenever I feel stressed and frustrated about schoolwork (especially when the public exams are getting near) and when I’m in doubt about new opportunities and challenges. It reminds me that I don’t need to fear as Christ has my back and he will give me the strength to overcome the things that are getting in my way.
