Homework, exams, bullies ... it's not easy being a teen. (Model not writer.)

Words and images are very powerful; they can be used to entertain and transport, but also to share an important message. This week’s creative piece describes how difficult it can be to be a teenager in this day and age.

It’s never easy to be a teen,

As the world starts to become mean.

At school, lessons are slowly dragging,

The homework stack forever growing.

At home, time is precious and scarce,

The midnight oil is always burnt out.

Write here: The third war nobody wanted

Even so one can never rest,

As everything is such a mess.

Exams and tests are just around the corner,

Like a tsunami bringing much torture.

Yet we still have to get good grades,

Which is as easy as juggling blades.

Write here: Stop trying to be someone else and accept you for who you really are

What about developing other hobbies?

Boy, that would make us zombies.

Time is forever not enough.

The life of a teen is just too tough!

But when we feel like crying,

Friends around are also trying.

Write here: Stop trying to be someone else and accept you for who you really are

When we feel like losing hope,

Everyone’s trudging up the slope.

Just know even if you want to moan,

Know you’re never alone.

Family and friends are great comfort,

Let’s be brave with all this support!
