Hi there! I’m going to be a freshman in university very soon. The path to university was never easy though. I had a really hard time deciding which programme to enrol in after the release of my HKDSE results. I regretted not planning ahead for my future career but I only had two days to make the biggest decision in my life so far.

Most inspiring quote:

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.”

-Helen Keller, an American blind-deaf lecturer and educator.

When I started to do research, I soon realised there are thousands of possibilities in life. My job will not be limited by the bachelor degree that I am going to obtain. In just two weeks, I will be studying psychology in university. But I’m still open to many other options for my future, like being a reporter for Young Post!

Hey everyone, I recently went to this programme called Natureworks, and during the 5 day camp, I learnt a lot of things. I’m not a fan of most camps but during this one, I learned how to be more confident through some well-designed public speaking activities.

Most inspiring quote:

“Don’t compete, just win”

- instructor at Natureworks

Rather than competing with other people, and hoping deep down that they’ll either fail, do worse than you, encounter some obstacle that will result in an advantage for you, etc, just win! With this mindset, you eliminate the possibility of: a) envy b) bitterness . The camp was only just a week ago and already I’ve felt the changes that have been made. I focus more on what I’m doing now, rather than what other people are doing and so seeing other people succeed doesn’t make me feel stressed about how I’m not on the same level as them anymore.

Hey guys and girls! I’m a guy who likes 3 things - pizza, memes, and trying new things, things I believe help expose me to new aspects of life that are invaluable to my development.

Most inspiring quote:

“Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.”

- Unknown

Real talk, the one challenge I’ve always faced is being the younger brother of a sister who has had many outstanding achievements - I’ve always felt that deep inside, no matter what I do, what I say, I will always be compared to her. Despite my respect for what’s she’s done, at times I feel overshadowed or even redundant (I dare say it!) because of this. Maybe that’s why, being the youngest in my family, I’ve been trying to do all these new things, because I feel pride and a sense of purpose in doing things others haven’t.

With me in the area, you’ll never be bored. I’m the girl who’s down for everything - from workaholic weekdays to hyperbolic weekends, I’m always up for it. Yet with so much going on, rallies and parties take their toll. With my self-imposed high academic standards and interest in global politics and human rights, I feel my hair is already falling out by the bunch.

The main issue I’m worried about is the burden I felt when I had to fill to meet unrealistic standards. So, I thought that if I could live happily day by day, it would help to relieve this feeling of discomfort. The way I did this was, well, through smiling. In the worst case, it give me confidence that whatever trouble I was in, it wasn’t as bad as I thought, and that I would eventually find a way out.

Most Inspirational Quote:

“I don’t get cute, I get drop dead gorgeous.”

-Drag performer, dance teacher, and businessperson Alyssa Edwards

This quote from Miss Edwards motivates me to always be the best version of myself. Stress and anxiety comes the morning after all the things I do, but I’ll never let them reside in me. With strong determination and resilience, I am unfazed by all that’s pulling me back. I just keep moving forward.
