Hey there! I’m just an ordinary secondary school student trying to survive the immense pressure of academics and sports. Being a quite average football player, I am haunted by the fear of losing and letting my teammates down when I step onto the field.
“There is only one thing to do in order to win. Practice, practice, practice. Even if you’re puking your guts out, pick up the ball and continue.” Ukai Keishin, from the Japanese manga series Haikyuu!!
I often get discouraged because my teammates are better than me. But this quote reminds me to try my best and persevere, because practice can help you to become a winner. All the sweat and tears are worth it when I can stand proudly as a winner on the field.
Hello. This quote is for people who are scared to trust others; scared of becoming vulnerable; scared to ask others for help; and scared of looking bad in other’s eyes.
“Everything you want is on the other side of fear.” Jack Canfield, American author and motivational speaker
I realise that I would never be able to improve if I allow myself to be limited by my fears. While I haven’t completely overcome my fears yet, I’m starting to see the other side, and I hope you will, too.
Howdy, mate? I am a perfectionist and I find it difficult to handle failure. I see failure as a sign of rejection, which means that I should not continue. There is a battle going on in my brain, with one side saying “yup, you can do it”, and the other saying, “Of course you are not going to win, you idiot”. I allow failure to become a psychological barrier which often makes me give up.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.” Former British prime minister, Winston Churchill
As Churchill said, having the desire to continue is what matters most. It is very important to remind ourselves that failure does not define us, nor do others’ criticism. Surely, we can always improve, but we should not view our flaws as something negative that can halt our progress . Our shortcomings can ultimately pave the way to success.
Hey there! Running has always had a special place in my life. I also have a lot of other hobbies, from playing the piano to photography. Like any other secondary school student, I need to perform well academically. It is a big challenge for me to fulfil my ultimate goal – to do well in both my studies and extra-curricular activities.
“Chop your own wood, and it will warm you twice.” American industrialist Henry Ford
The quote reminds me of what my teacher used to always tell me: “Running is a simple thing. The more effort you put into it, the better you’ll become.” So no matter how tight my schedule is, I try to complete my assignments step by step. That’s why people say Rome wasn’t built in a day. As Ford said, when you work hard and succeed, you’ll get twice the satisfaction that you’d normally get from achieving your target.
