As a university with locations stretched globally across Asia, Europe and North America, SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) prepares students for thriving creative careers and is the preeminent source of knowledge in art and design disciplines.
From its inspired settings in Hong Kong, Atlanta, Savannah, Georgia, and Lacoste, and online through eLearning, SCAD offers over 100 unique programmes of study across more than 40 majors and more than 75 minors, including fashion, interactive design and game development, interior design, luxury and fashion management, motion media design and photography, among others.
SCAD academic programmes consistently earn accolades from internationally recognised companies and organisations. SCAD undergraduate fashion programs were ranked No. 1 in the world for “Best Learning Experience” in 2016 by industry insider website, The Business of Fashion. The university’s motion media design programme was named No. 1 globally in 2017 for the second year in a row by The Rookies, an international competition known as “the Oscars for creative minds”. In addition, SCAD’s undergraduate and graduate interior design programmes have been ranked No. 1 six times since 2008 by DesignIntelligence, a company which honours university design programmes that prepare students for professional success.
Career preparation is woven into every fibre of the university. In fact, SCAD Hong Kong students are hired by Burberry Asia Ltd., Gensler, Leo Burnett Worldwide, L’Oréal, Nike, Pixar and more. According to a recent study, 98 percent of Spring 2016 SCAD graduates were either employed, pursuing further education or both within 10 months of graduation.
Collaborations with multinational companies and organizations, from Apple, Ogilvy & Mather and Saint Laurent Paris to MTR, Procter & Gamble and The Ritz-Carlton, allow students to work in authentic environments and to seek imaginative, practical solutions for real-world partners — leading to extraordinary portfolios and job opportunities.
From the classroom and beyond, SCAD Hong Kong students are guided by esteemed professors who are accomplished leaders in their fields—having won Emmy and Obie Awards, held leadership positions at global companies and contributed to Academy Award-winning movies.
SCAD Hong Kong students participate in the region’s biggest and brightest events, such as Art Central Hong Kong and SIGGRAPH Asia. The university is an integral part of the city’s cultural calendar and presents signature events including the highly anticipated SCAD Hong Kong Fashion Showcase, a launching pad for student designers that attracts VIPs from Chanel, DKNY, LVMH, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Shanghai Tang and SpyHenryLau.
The international network of SCAD museums, galleries and exhibition spaces showcases works of students and alumni to worldwide audiences and features captivating pieces from today’s most influential artists. Currently on view at the SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film is Guo Pei: Couture Beyond.
The premiere U.S. solo museum exhibition of acclaimed fashion designer Guo Pei, the first Chinese national designer invited to join the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture (English: Trade Association of High Fashion), presents more than 40 of her grandest, most dramatic gowns. Electrifying exhibitions like these enrich the education of SCAD students across disciplines and delight visitors from around the world.
At SCAD Hong Kong, students are immersed in an innovative academic environment with advanced technology and specialised resources. Classes take place in the SCAD-restored North Kowloon Magistracy Building in Sham Shui Po, which has been recognised by UNESCO’s Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation in 2011. Here, students have access to high-tech digital labs, darkrooms, fashion and interior design resource labs, a green screen studio and more.
