This bloody image was taken during a Taoist ceremony. It was held in Taiwan on Saturday. Worshippers gathered at the Longde temple in the city of Taoyuan to pray for protection from the coronavirus outbreak. Why the spiked weapon? Some Taoists believe that punishing themselves is a sign of devotion to their faith. Taiwan has reported 20 cases of Covid-19 and one death.
