Using 4,000 eggs and a truckload of sugar and cream, pastry chefs in France made a 121.8 metre-long strawberry cake. They claim it is the longest strawberry cake ever made.

Moroccan pastry chef Youssef El Gatou led a team of 20 chefs to make the masterpiece. It weighed 1.2 metric tonnes and took one week to complete. It was set out on tables in an ice rink in the Parisian town of Argenteuil.

This cake is longer than a 100.48 metre-long strawberry cake made in 2019 in Italy. El Gatou’s cake used 350kg of strawberries, 150kg of sugar and 415kg of cream.

The cake had to be at least 8cm wide and 8cm tall to beat the world record. The team used blowtorches to heat a bowl used to mix the cream, the chef’s wife, Nadia El Gatou, said.
