German home appliances brand Miele incorporated a creative prop into a ballet performance during a product launch on Thursday.

At the start of the performance, all seemed normal when the two ballet dancers started dancing. That was until one of them opened an ironing board before swiftly pulling out an ironing machine - all so elegantly, of course - while the other pulled out a cream scarf for her to pretend to iron.

The emcee explained the dancers showed how graceful one can be while doing their chores. However, the high-end ironing board and iron will not be available until later this year.

But what busy mothers - such as singer-actress Kelly Chen Wai-lam - can count on currently is the latest W 1945 EcoComfort Washing Machine, which features a patented honeycomb drum - ideal for washing delicate fabrics such as silk and cashmere - and new programmes to cater for different laundering needs.

Chen helped launch the limited-edition washing machine alongside Carsten Nittke, managing director of Miele Hong Kong, at the Miele Private Lounge in Causeway Bay. And having given birth to her second son - nicknamed Siu Lung Bao (meat dumpling) - in March, the topic she always discusses these days are her two children.

And perhaps not surprisingly, the gifts they gave Chen were also for her two children - a mini toy washing machine for her elder son Har Gao (shrimp dumpling), as she said he loves watching a washing machine spin, and a pair of toddler socks for her baby boy.
