Stay cool, stay mobile

We've all been there this hot and sticky summer: loitering outside a shopping mall or office building, savouring blasts of cooled air.

Of course, the brief respite from the punishing heat ends as soon as you move on, but if you've ever wished the cool air could follow you around, you may be interested to know lifestyle brand DOMA has come up with an impressive solution. The Mini Cooli is a portable air conditioner. Its high-speed turbine forces air through a wet sponge, delivering a cool breeze wherever you are.

'The main difference [between the Mini Cooli and a portable fan] is that the Mini Cooli actually lowers the air temperature around it while a fan just recycles warm air,' says Alun Jones, a managing partner and owner of DOMA. 'It also has a rechargeable battery, unlike most portable fans, so over the long term it's more economical and environmentally friendly.'

Post Magazine has not had the pleasure of trying one of these gizmos out yet - and initial reviews are mixed - but we desperately hope that the Mini Cooli or something similar catches on - because the summers aren't getting any cooler.

The Mini Cooli comes in five colours, each with a fixed fragrance: Sandalwood (black), Island Breeze (white), Ocean Mist (blue), Lavender (pink) and Kiwi and Lime (green). Each also comes with a stand and strap, and costs HK$149 from DOMA outlets at The Peak (1/F, The Peak Galleria), Causeway Bay (Windsor House) and Tsim Sha Tsui (K11 Mall). For more information, visit
