What I'm listening to: Rembetika: Greek Music From the Underworld. It was given to me as a farewell gift by a close Greek friend when I left a residency in Rotterdam. Whenever I listen to it, my friend's heart-warming smile and hearty Greek cooking comes back to me.
What I'm reading: The Plague of Fantasies by Slavoj Zizek.It's helping me become intellectually equipped for my upcoming year in New York, where I hope to better define what shapes our experiences psychoanalytically, philosophically, socially and politically.
What I'm watching: Luis Bu?uel's Exterminating Angel. I love how it starts with: 'The best explanation of this film is that, from the standpoint of pure reason, there is no explanation.' I have been re-playing this film in my mind every day since I saw it. An elegant, simple and powerful work.
What I'm working with: freedom is my main material and medium. I cannot create without it. The context of my work evolves, but I need maximum freedom to execute what I set out to achieve. I don't like to be bound by a preferred medium; it would limit what I can do.
