The brother-in-law of jailed Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo stands trial for fraud at the Hauirou district court in Beijing. Liu Hui, 43, could be jailed for as long as 14 years if convicted, his lawyer said earlier. Liu Hui has insisted he was a victim of official retaliation over his dissident brother-in-law and his older sister, Liu Xia . The indictment says Liu Hui and his business partner defrauded a contractor of three million yuan (HK$3.7 million).

 

Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean arrives in Hong Kong for the start of a three-day visit. Teo, who also serves as minister for home affairs and national security, is due to meet Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying as part of his visit. Their discussions are expected to focus on co-operation between agencies in the two cities.
