Like love, the meaning of friendship changes as we reach different stages in our lives. Local independent dance troupe Passoverdance's latest offering, Walkalong, is an exploration of this theme by performers of different ages.

Choreographing the show are veterans Pewan Chow Pui-wan, Cally Yip Lai-yee and Elaine Kwok Hiu-ling as well as 21-year-old Joseph Lee Wai-nang, from the dance group's junior arm, Passing On. Each will offer their interpretation of friendship.

Lee's piece touches on dependence and what happens when the give and take of a relationship is off balance, while Yip looks at friendship from the "me" generation's perspective. Kwok's piece puts forward that we have a universal need for friends.

Chow, who is also Passoverdance's artistic director, says that given her life experience (she is the oldest of the choreographers) her piece best reflects the show's title. She uses four veteran dancers to symbolise how friendships mature as people get older.
