Beauty fix: After Touchdown jet lag treatment at Sense of Touch spa

Travelling is great, but jet lag and exhaustion can leave you burnt out when you get back home. Day spa Sense of Touch has come up with After Touchdown, a treatment that re-aligns the body with the local time zone by working to reset the body clock.
For those of us stuck in the concrete jungle, it also serves as a mini getaway and the Crowne Plaza branch in Tseung Kwan O, which gives the illusion of being in a villa in Bali or Thailand, offers a soothing escape.
The pedicure lounge, which is near the spa entrance, overlooks the "Tropical Garden"; this houses seven private pavilion villas with names such as Bali and Java. I was given the spacious Couple's Sanctuary, and I loved its wooden floor, stone walls, and bamboo curtains set against the high glass panels.
The treatment starts with a bubble bath in a big tub. Infused with Dead Sea salts and cydonia clay, the mineral rich bath is said to reduce water-retention from flying. After 30 minutes, your mind is calm (the relaxing music helps), your skin is softened, and you move on to the treatment bed for a scrub.
Elemis' exotic Lime and Ginger Salt Glow is used, and this has an invigorating scent. Your skin may feel tired and dull after experiencing other climates, and a thorough body scrub exfoliates. It also encourages blood circulation and detoxifies.
I emerge from the shower with smooth and shiny skin, ready for the massage. My therapist, who put slippers on my feet when I headed to the shower, knows my neck and legs are tired, and gives them special attention. That is probably how the treatment helps fight the insomnia that comes with jet lag - a little nap is inevitable, as the therapist works to relax your whole body, leaving you feeling light and refreshed afterwards.
You don't need to have just taken a long flight to enjoy this treatment. Just like any vacation, it's over all too quickly and leaves you longing for the next one.
