From the flowery to the musky, the girly to the more genteel, each of these perfumes makes a statement. And the bottles are pretty, too.
Dior's Miss Dior eau de toilette (HK$640/50ml) is a chypre floral fragrance that is clear and fresh. The top note of blood orange is combined with Tunisian neroli, Turkish and Bulgarian damask rose, and Indonesian patchouli. The perfume is pink in colour and, with its square bottle adorned with a cute silver bow, it has a lovable, girly allure. The brand's classic houndstooth pattern adorns the base of the bottle.
See by Chloé's eau de parfum spray (HK$710/50ml) starts off quite tart and citrusy, but leaves a pleasantly sweet trace. Created by French perfumer Michel Almairac, its notes of bergamot mingle with those of apple blossom and jasmine. The base notes are of sandalwood and vanilla. The pleated-glass bottle resembles an elegant ball gown.
Jimmy Choo's Flash (HK$640/60ml) calls to mind the scent of the white champaca that old ladies used to sell on the street in these parts. The top note combines pink pepper, tangerine and strawberry; the "heart" is a blend of white flowers including tuberose, jasmine and white lily; and there's a musky base. The colour and design of the angular bottle are inspired by the ultraviolet lights of a night club and the flashbulbs of paparazzi.
Dolce & Gabbana's Desire (HK$845/50ml) comes in a chic black bottle, with gold details, that's as elegant as the scent within. The almost creamy fragrance evokes a mature, ladylike femininity. Mandarin, lychee and bergamot give freshness to the top note; Madonna lily, Indian tuberose, jasmine and sweet plum nectar make up the core; and a rich, musky base note features vanilla-infused caramel, sandalwood, musk and labdanum.
