Heat and humidity can be unkind to those prone to oily skin or acne. But fear not, there are products out there that can protect your skin and let you get on with the important task of enjoying the summer.

The Body Shop's Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash (HK$149/100ml) is the latest addition to the brand's signature range. The cooling menthol-infused product vows to be tough on bacteria that cause blemishes but gentle to the skin. Antibacterial tea-tree oil cleanses and removes excess oil while Namibian marula oil and Brazilian soya oil soften and nourish the skin.

Kiehl's' Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser (HK$175/150ml) claims to balance the skin without stripping or drying it. The oil-free formula is designed to retain moisture and help control sebum, thanks to a number of naturally derived ingredients such as Imperata cylindrica root extract, Antarcticine and vitamin E.

Sesha's Clarifying Face Wash (HK$370/120ml) not only helps unblock pores but also tones the skin. The heroic agent is salicylic acid, which provides a deep clean and exfoliates dead skin cells. Other ingredients including vitamin B5, sage, horse chestnut and ginkgo biloba extracts, freshen the skin and prevent the growth of bacteria.

Thursday Plantation's Tea Tree Daily Face Wash (HK$94.90/150ml) is a lightweight foaming cleanser that comes in a pump pack and is a concoction of tea-tree oil, with its balancing and clarifying powers, and chamomile, which soothes and eases discomfort caused by acne and pimples. The soap-free formula prevents overdrying.
