We all know how it feels when you've got that date/junk trip/interview lined up and then, out of nowhere, a pimple rears its ugly head. Well, if the marketing folks can be believed, one of these products may well save the day.
Boots' Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Spot Wand (HK$49/2 x 3.5ml) is slated to clear up blocked pores super quick, thanks to its two soothing, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory ingredients. It comes with two sponge ends dispensing clear (morning) and light green (night) gels. The "wand" bit provides a clean application that won't leave your hands sticky.
La Roche-Posay's Effaclar A.I. (HK$220/15ml) has an oil- and paraben-free formula that, it's claimed, not only fights acne, but also reduces marks as the skin heals. Micro-exfoliating LHA and niacinamide remove dead skin cells and reduce sebum to prevent blocked pores, while piroctone olamine and glycacil kill bacteria and thermal spring water helps speed up skin repair.
SkinCeuticals' Blemish + Age Defense (HK$720/30ml) caters to adults who face the dual problem of acne and ageing skin. It's an oil-free corrector that features a blend of dioic acid, LHA and salicylic acid - all of which are said to reduce sebum production and acne-causing bacteria while also exfoliating. Glycolic acid and citric acids work to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Vichy's Normaderm Hyaluspot (HK$170/15ml) is a clear gel formulated with hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid and LHA, which make up what the brand has dubbed "anti-bacterial bandage technology". The ingredients are said to work together to fight bacteria and decongest pores. Vichy claims the product will kill 99.9 per cent of bacteria in two hours and remove imperfections in two days without leaving marks.
