Beauty buzz: mascara

Nothing says, "come hither" like long, curled lashes, and these new releases promise to create volume, elongate and even add sparkle.

Bobbi Brown's Dual-Ended Mascara (HK$250) from the American brand's latest Perfectly Defined collection features two formulas - Extreme Party and No Smudge. The former is infused with conditioners and vitamins and provides a bold finish that should last for up to eight hours, while the latter offers waterproof protection. They can be worn alone or together, depending on the occasion.

Shu Uemura's Petal Lash Mascara (HK$240) is the Japanese brand's latest smudge-proof product and is designed to add volume. Creating curly and defined lashes is made easy thanks to the pink, petal-inspired brush, which has been created with Asian eyes in mind. The criss-cross design is said to catch lashes of all lengths and give a long-lasting flake-free finish. The mascara is infused with a delicate cherry blossom scent.

Lunasol's W Lighting Mascara (HK$260) is a limited-edition product launched in celebration of the Japanese brand's 15th anniversary. On one end is a dark purple mascara that colours and lifts lashes, while the other end features a fine shimmer to add sparkle. It's great for creating a sharp party look but, as it's waterproof, there's no harm wearing it to the beach either.

Heroine Make’s Long & Curl Mascara (HK$82) is from the same Japanese brand that creates those affordable yet long-lasting eyeliners we love. With "super water proof" stamped down the side, the fibre mascara promises to be both oil- and water-proof. The curved brush and formula, which is a blend of royal jelly extracts and argan, camellia and rose-hip oils, work to create natural-looking, extra-long lashes.
